YAHOO! HURRAY!

Level : Form 1

Time : 40 minutes

Aim : To practice writing skills in describing interesting places for holiday. To practice appreciating local interesting places.

Technique requirement : One computer per student or group 2-3 students, with an Internet connection and a Web browser

Preparation :

1. Web page : http://www.yahoo.com/

Procedure :

1. Teacher tells about his own experience in having a vacation at one of the islands in Malaysia.

2. Teacher explains the important of having a vacation in our own country.

3. Teacher asks the students whether they have experienced any vacation in Malaysia.

4. Teacher asks students to log into the website given.

5. Teacher then teaches the students how to create an account at yahoo.com.

6. Students need to create their own account at yahoo!.com. Teacher assists the students in creating their account.

7. Teacher asks the students to write their e-mail’s user name on the board.

8. Teacher asks the students to compose an e-mail to one of their friends regarding on their vacation during their holiday.

9. Students are required to write a short essay in describing the places which they have visited in the e-mail to their friends.

10. The essay will be evaluated by the teacher.
